We were young and proud and full of ideas We were gonna start a business that exceeded us But it all went haywire one fine day And now its called the Mood Food cafe Well music and food is still our thing But stranger things have crept their way in I swear this ain't no hallucination Must just be god workin one of his old favors Ive seen it all before is what they all say I believe you but come on down to the Mood Food cafe There's a monkey here who speaks four languages And everyday he gets up to weird shenanigans I met him on a corner selling guns I said come on in buddy, we're gonna have some fun today There's a Japanese guy talkin' about atoms And the monkey in the corner starts going bananas They start arguing in a language I don't understand Then he launches at me, atoms flying everywhere Ive seen it all before is what they all say I believe you but come on down to the Mood Food cafe Im not one to pick a fight So I pulled up a chair and said wait a minute there Lets settle this the old-fashioned way First one to beat the monkey at chess gets to stay But wouldn't you know it, that monkey's pretty smart He beat both of us right at the start I guess evolution ain't workin' in our favor Monkey's first and humans...later Ive seen it all before is what they all say I believe you but come on down to the Mood Food cafe

Im not the one to call out to you Even though it could be better So we stay quiet and we stay blue We'll go on forever Forever askin the kind lord How to change the weather Forever tryin to understand How the pieces got bent Oh, a tossin and a turnin Yearnin for a little romance My friends they been talkin these days They've been goin like fire Sayin I should pack up my bags Before I sink in the mire I know it'd be easier, breezier too If we just parted I know itd be safer and later I'd tell My friends I was joining the party But easy and safe ain't what brought me to you You know I don't listen to my friends no more Its cuz they're all broken-hearted Seems like we all sink the ball these days Before we call it I know it'd be easier, breezier too If we just parted I know itd be safer and later I'd tell My friends I was joining the party But easy and safe ain't what brought me to you No, we've got a lot of lovin left to do

Ragtime Game 02:22
Spain's hot, Scotland cold Everywhere you go they all want your soul Nobody's different, everyone the same Playing their part in this ragtime game The hot one's will burn you, cold ones chill you to the bone Each one of them will leave you wanting more Why do we it, why don't we pull in the reigns Playing our part in this ragtime game We've all got stories of the one that got away When we tried so hard but they just wouldn't stay, no Instead of sitting here licking my wounds Well pass me up them dice, Im getting back in the groove Oh Susanna, she had the looks Could make an honest man a crook She'll take you in, make you holler and shout Just enough crazy to make a man go wild Lila, she's the special kind Never leave home without a pitbull by her side He'll take your head off with one quick move She knows how she likes it, you better know it too What are we doing here, what have we got left Where's your dignity, where's your self-respect Im telling you straight judge, I ain't got no shame Playing my part in this ragtime game We'll keep going until we can't go no more We live in the bars and we sleep next door We're always close, one step away Playing our part in this ragtime game We're just playing our part in this ragtime game

Travelled down the coast 600 miles before it all fell out all exposin nerves like wires buzzin and sparkin about I went down to the water Thought Id find some answers there but everyone I talked to and everyone they spoke of said all the answers are in your head I got a girl in Spain and a family in Holland too Ive been travellin around so much these days Im afraid Im playin the fool There wasnt nobody down by the water Who could satisfy my thirst Cuz everyone I talked to and everyone they spoke of Said you gotta go where ya feel it the most Oh one of these days Are the pieces gonna come together But some of these days it feel like All the pieces be fallin on me first Ive been singing my songs now For a couple of years Ain't one of them of which I could say Sounds like sweet tunes to my ears Aint there nobody down by the water Who can tell me what to do Cuz everyone I talked to and everyone they spoke of Said boy, its gotta come from you first Oh one of these days Are the pieces gonna come together But some of these days it feel like All the pieces be fallin on me first Yeah one of these days well Are all the pieces gonna come together But some of these days it feel like All them pieces be falling on me first

Wild Oats 03:34
I used to dive Headfirst into the sea Swam with the fishes Of every color and breed I studied their scales Watched them glisten and glow Now the sea's have parted Left me here on my own These wild oats of mine They have hit a drought Aint had no rain (had no rain) Sun's a beatin down I'll put my boots Back on the shelf Come next spring I'll try em on again There's but one girl I loved She kept me tame for years Now that she's gone Im left with just my fears Well a flower needs water To open and bloom If this drought holds up Lord, you know Im doomed These wild oats of mine They have hit a drought Aint had no rain (had no rain) Sun's a beatin down I'll put my boots Back on the shelf Come next spring I'll try em on again Ive given the crew The day to go rest Ive put my tools Back in the shed There's cracks in the land Vultures settling in Just a few more days And they'll be pickin at my skin These wild oats of mine They have hit a drought Aint had no rain (had no rain) Sun's a beatin down I'll put my boots Back on the shelf Come next spring I'll try em on again Come next spring I'll try em on again

I am an old woman now Named after my mother My old man is another Child who's grown old If dreams were thunder Lightning desire This old house would've burned down A long time ago Make me an angel that flies from Montgomery Make me a poster of an old rodeo Just give me something that I can hold on to To believe in this living is just a hard way to go When I was a young one I had me a cowboy He wasn't much to look at Just a free rambling man That was a long time And no matter how I try The years just flow by Like a broken down dam Make me an angel that flies from Montgomery Make me a poster of an old rodeo Just give me something that I can hold on to To believe in this living is just a hard way to go There's flies in the kitchen I can hear them buzzing And I ain't done nothing Since I woke up today How the hell can a person Go to work in the morning Come home in the evening Without a damn thing to say Make me an angel that flies from Montgomery Make me a poster of an old rodeo Just give me something that I can hold on to To believe in this living is just a hard way to go
